Made to display significant memorabilia that we’ve kept over the years. Each item has a story to tell and when we sit at the table we’re reminded of times past.
I drew a chalk circle on the shed cement floor the diameter of the re-purposed garden setting table we bought at a sale. (5 chairs came with it not shown) In the circle I placed the items, over lapping and visually balanced to space and generally laying flat. I welded them all together till they were rigid, turned the whole work-in-progress over and welded the other side, item to item. After wire brushing the whole table top both sides I welded it to the table frame which I’d painted black beforehand. I sprayed painted the top with Penetrol to inhibit further rusting and give a laquer like sheen. That’s all that was to it! What a talking point its been. A number of visitors have commented and thought of their own souvenirs with something similar in mind. Both practical and personal.
