Frill Neck on the Run

January 18, 2019

Frill Neck lizards run away from danger on their hind legs, with their frill flapped loosely around their throat.  They are fast runners!  I’ve fashioned the body from wheat harvester auger metal, inter twisting and tapering for the tail.  Back legs are forged old wheat harvester “fingers” and the front legs are tubing from a washing basket trolley.  Head is two cultivator tines forged to shape and the frill is refrigerator shelving.  I followed a photograph while making this lizard especially to capture the “run” and the “posture” of fleeing imminent danger.  All mig welded and coated with rust inhibitor.
