Plate and Tools is a commission to feature treasured items from loved ones. With such an eclectic mix, it is sometimes difficult to get symmetry and balance. As a garden feature, it naturally leans towards a sunflower of a certain “ilk”!
I first welded the chain I was given, including the padlock, as a double strand loosely entwined and sat it on a garden fork to stand it in the garden. Then I laid out the pieces as a “flower” and “leaves and stalks” and welded them together. The plate came last as a backing for the “petals” of tools. It is fixed with a bolt through the old cog. It stands 5 feet high.
