Telegraph Willy Wagtail (sold)

March 15, 2018

We have a lot of willy wagtails living in our garden.

I’ve enjoyed sitting him on a imaginary telegraph wire for display.  Almost a thing of the past, we’ve forgotten how prolific telegraph lines stretched across Australia.  How better to preserve a nostalgic past with one of the many birds that shared a lookout on its wires.  Do you remember the hum of the wind in the wires?

Made from stainless steel cutlery, I filled in more of the bird than some of my other pieces and gave him a cheeky side glance.  Fun to make and fun to enjoy.

  • Size
Height 36 cms, width 23 cms, depth 20 cms.
  • Materials
Stainless steel cutlery, ss rod and wire, old telegraph insulator, block of local wood.
  • Price
    $125

Note: All prices are in Australia Dollars (AUD). Also items will vary slightly from what's displayed in the image because every piece is custom made and source materials will vary.
